Take Charge of Your Health

Here at HealingSpace Medical Center, our message in regard to staying well remains consistent: modify your diet and lifestyle to promote health and overall wellness. Be proactive, not reactive. Stay vigilant, not fearful. With so much information at our fingertips, it is easy to become overwhelmed. Your body and your immune system are amazing, especially when provided with the tools and support they need to do their job.

Lifestyle: It is important to stay grounded

Practice mindfulness every day!
Incorporate meditation into each day (click here for meditations led by Dr. Mitchell). Deep breathing exercises have been shown to decrease anxiety and blood pressure, as well as induce a sense of calm and clarity.

Keep moving!
Physical activity is known to boost the immune system, promote better sleep, and improve physical and cognitive function. Get out into nature and breathe fresh air.

Sleep!
Strive to get 7-8 hours of restful sleep. Create a healthy, relaxing, and consistent bedtime routine. Try and avoid electronic devices at least 2 hours before you go to bed.

Diet:

We recommend focus on eating a diet full of nutrient dense, whole foods and making sure you are drinking plenty of water (at least 64 oz/day).

Supplements:  Give your body the support it needs to function optimally

Immune supporting supplements:

  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin D3/K2
  • Selenium
  • Oscillococcinum
  • Viracid (Includes Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Zinc)

We have these supplements available at the office, but you can also order them through Fullscript to be shipped directly to your home. Call the office at (847) 304-5526 or send us a message through the patient portal for help with a Fullscript order. As with anything, it is important to take into consideration each individual’s history and situation to determine the most appropriate plan.

Daily Practices to Implement:

  • Wash your hands! (If you are in a situation where you cannot wash your hands, a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol is the next best choice.)
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Stay home when you are sick
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with either a disposable tissue or your elbow
  • Clean and disinfect commonly touched objects and surfaces
  • Practice social distancing: avoid or postpone plans that will bring you into contact with large groups of people. Try to maintain a 6 foot distance from others if you do need to go out.
  • Choose your information sources wisely. Society today means we are constantly bombarded with information from every direction. The CDC website has plenty of information regarding prevention, control, basic preparedness, and general information about COVID-19. Try to stay off social media and know when to turn off the news! It is important to unplug.

We would like to remind patients of our 24 hour cancellation policy.

The CDC currently recommends everyone wear a cloth face covering in public settings where social distancing may be difficult. This is to help mitigate the spread of the virus from asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic people. With that in mind, all of our practitioners will be wearing masks and ask that you do the same. Click here for more information and tutorials to create both sew and no sew masks.

Please DO NOT come into the office if:

  • You have been diagnosed with COVID-19
  • You have a fever, cough, or other respiratory symptoms
  • You or someone you live with is in a high risk group

If you feel that you need to be tested or treated for COVID-19, we ask you to do so at the facility recommended by your municipality.

HealingSpace does not have test kits for COVID-19.
